The South African Transkei phenotype was first documented in January of 2002 along South Africa’s Wild Coast near Durban. This strain quickly gained popularity among the greater online mycology community for its potency and distinct appearance. Caps measure 4–6 cm in diameter, starting convex and maturing to broadly convex or nearly planar. They range from pale golden to light caramel in color, often with a slightly darker center. Stems are slender to medium-thick, standing 8–14 cm tall, with a smooth off-white surface that may bruise blue when handled. Fruiting bodies often present in medium-density clusters, with many specimens displaying slightly elongated stems before cap expansion. South African Transkei is known for moderately fast colonization on grain spawn and strong performance on bulk substrates. Fruiting is prolific under standard cubensis conditions, with flushes producing consistent medium-sized mushrooms and a balanced canopy. A unique trait of this strain is its origin being one of the first documented Psilocybe cubensis collections from South Africa and its reputation for above-average potency among cubensis varieties. Our liquid cultures arrive in high-quality 10ml laboratory-grade Luer-Lok syringes. Each order includes a sterile 1-inch, 16-gauge needle for microscopy slide dispensing.
